The cathedral city of Exeter for shops, restaurants, theatre and racecourse, is approximately 20 miles. Walkers and cyclists will enjoy the Tarka Trail which stretches from Dartmoor to Exmoor. Further afield there are numerous beaches that are wonderful for surfers and sunbathers alike.
