Royal Tunbridge Wells and the famous Pantiles are 18 miles away. Batemans, the home of Rudyard Kipling, is 5 miles away at Burwash. There are also numerous National Trust and English Heritage sites in the locality.
Activities offered locally include trout fishing (fly only) in Ashburnham, Bewl and Darwell reservoirs. Horse riding, four golf courses plus fantastic cycling and walking. Port Lympne Wild Animal Park or day trip to France from Dover make very good days out. Lydd airport also provides an opportunity to take a flight to Le Touquet or along the coast on a balmy evening.
