Accommodation overview: A spacious detached modern property, situated in an elevated position in the ‘Above Town’ area of Dartmouth, with the most spectacular views of the River Dart and looking across to the Kingswear side of the river, all the way out to Dartmouth Castle on the mouth of the river. The property is approached via the garden from the parking spaces below. Its interior is modern and light in decor, and it is a wonderful family-sized holiday home with all the modern conveniences that could be wished for. The bedrooms are all of a very good size offering a high degree of comfort. The holiday property also has the added bonus of having its own two parking spaces which is unusual for property in the town. The town of Dartmouth is a very popular for tourists and has a wealth of history, particulary due to its naval connections. Nowadays there are many boutiques and gift shops, bistros and eateries as well as some top TV chefs who have restaurants in the area. From the river bank, take two ferries across to Kingswear on the other side of the River Dart and then drive onto Brixham and into the Torbay coastline. From Kingswear a steam train runs from the river bank along a very scenic route into Buckfastleigh where the famous Buckfast Abbey can be visited. During the summer there are boat cruises that can be taken along the coast to Paignton and Torquay. Following the coast road, from Dartmouth back to Kingsbridge in the South Hams many wonderful beaches and coves will be passed a delight for families of all ages, and superb walking for those who enjoy the countryside and the breathtaking seasacape views along this route. On the other side of the river at Kingwear, the steam train puffs its way along the river bank, and the small car ferry which crosses the Dart, makes it easy to travel to Brixham and Torbay.
Dartmouth has an abundance of maritime history - the Naval College stands in a prominent position looking out across the River Dart. Just a short walk from the property is Dartmouth castle built in the 14th century as a defence for the towns inhabitants. For walkers, the wild expanse of Dartmoor National Park beckons, whilst the Dartmouth Golf Club, with an 18-hole championship course, 9-hole club course, health spa and swimming-pool will also prove a popular venue. A visit to Totnes also makes for a pleasant day out, with its many 16th-century and timber-framed buildings as well as interesting shops to browse around and coffee houses to enjoy some light refreshment.

The saloon features a huge bay window which overhangs the river taking full advantage of the views. The ancient port of Dartmouth enjoys a charming mix of old buildings, including the 17th-century Butterwalk (with museum), a splendid castle (English Heritage) set on the rocks at the river entrance, and regular ferries across to Kingswear. The river throngs with pleasure craft and yachts, and offers good sailing and cruises to Totnes, taking in the beautiful scenery of the wooded valley. Charming Totnes has a wealth of ancient buildings, good shopping for antiques, crafts and gifts, and an Elizabethan Tuesday market. From Dartmouth the steam railway runs along the coast to the lively seaside resort of Paignton. Local places of interest include Greenaway (home of Agatha Christie), Coleton Fishacre (NT), Bowden House, the Butterfly Farm near Buckfastleigh, and Paignton Zoo. Along the coast are some splendid beaches, including Blackpool Sands, and excellent walks on the South West Coast Path. Just a few miles inland lies the Dartmoor National Park, with a wonderfully varied landscape of mountains, moors, combes and woods.
