Accommodation overview: Manor House is a Grade II listed Tudor building of brick and flint under a roof thatched with Norfolk reed. Built in 1560s, it forms one of a trio of listed homes on the corner of Church Road, a quiet lane. The house is set in its own garden in the middle of the coastal village of Bacton just 550 yards from the beach. The house is full of character with its large inglenook fireplace (non operational), huge beams, exposed brickwork and Aga. Some excellent walking can be found close at hand, while the sandy beaches of Hunstanton, Brancaster and Holkham lie within a 20-mile radius for a family day by the sea. King’s Lynn itself, which was once the country’s fourth largest town in medieval times, offers a handsome waterfront and medieval winding alleyways, where visitors can browse amongst a good selection of shops and dine in traditional inns.
Historical houses abound in the region, with ruins to be found at nearby Castle Rising and Castle Acre. The Queen’s country residence of Sandringham is open to the public (unless a member of the Royal family is in residence) and is just 11 miles away. The market towns of Fakenham and East Dereham are close by and well worth a visit. Excellent trout and coarse fishing nearby.
