Widemouth Bay offers a mile-long sandy beach, which is regarded as one of the finest in Cornwall. The beach is ideal for families and offers a variety of seaside activities whether swimming, sunbathing, surfing, hunting for marine life in the hundreds of rock pools or just combing the beach for personal mementos. This stretch of coast is steeped in the smuggling history, and not far south of Widemouth Bay some amazing little inlets and coves can be found.
Widemouth Bay itself is a very convenient location for those wishing to visit other places of interest - and being close to the Cornwall/Devon border, visitors are able to see the steep cobbled streets of Clovelly, Westward Ho!, Hartland, Ilfracombe, Exmoor and Dartmoor, as well as Bodmin Moor which lies further afield. It is only a short drive to a host of sheltered coves and sandy beaches as well as attractions including the Tamar Otter Park, Brooklands Adventure Park, Launceston Steam Railway, The Eden Project, Tintagel with its legends of King Arthur and the Knights of The Round Table, and Boscastle with its fishing trips to name but a few. A game of golf can be enjoyed at one of the many clubs in the area. Really great pubs, restaurants and delicious local food are available in the local villages of Bampton and Dulverton. Situated along the coastline of North Devon and Somerset, with some of the most stunning scenery in the country, Exmoor National Park continues to delight visitors year after year. It is one of the smallest and prettiest of Britain’s national parks at about 265 square miles in area. There are ancient wooded valleys with magical waterfalls, a dramatic coastline with secluded beaches and miles and miles of wild open moorland. Glimpse some red deer roaming wild on the hills, buzzards soaring in the sky, small-horned sheep and the famous Exmoor Ponies. Where Exmoor meets the sea is stunningly beautiful, with the highest sea cliffs in England, and the amazingly rugged coastline from Minehead to Lynton and Lynmouth. There are many National Trust properties to visit and there are many sandy beaches ideal for lazy days out, 11/4 hours away. It occupies a very rural setting at the end of a track in a 6-acre wood, 3 miles south of Honiton. The wood is a haven for wildlife with regular sighting of badgers, deer and an abundance of birds. There is a network of footpaths in the woods for guests to use at their leisure. The coast of Sidmouth is a mere 20-minute drive.
This is a superb house with total privacy; it has been decorated and furnished to a very high standard and boasts three wood-burning stoves, together with many original features. For walkers and bird-watchers, this really is the most suitable accommodation. There are so many walks to enjoy from the front door.
Many activities are available in the area including golf, fishing, horse riding and sailing. There are also numerous NT properties - all within a short drive. Exmouth is close by and has lovely 2-mile stretch of beach and was once home to the wives of Nelson and Byron respectively, whilst a bit further on lies the genteel town of Budleigh Salterton with its white-washed and thatched cottages which attracted such visitors as Noel Coward and PG Wodehouse. At Exeter, the South West Coastal Path Park is an ideal family day out. Exmoor National Park is also worth a visit, with its rugged landscape and ponies. Shops and pubs 3 miles.

Picturesque Padstow lies close by and is characterised by quaint streets and slate houses that cluster round the working fish harbour, together with its famous Rick Stein restaurants and bistro. From Padstow harbour, boats offer cruises in Padstow Bay and a ferry trip across the estuary to Rock can be made. Forming part of the Camel Trail, the 5-mile Padstow to Wadebridge stretch offers cyclists a level route that passes by Pinkson Creek, a habitat rich in bird life. Tintagel, with its mystical castle is but a short drive away, and Bodmin Moor also lies within easy reach. There are a number of golf courses in the area, including the well known St Enedoc and Trevose courses. Shop 200 yards.
