Portinscale is a small village just 10 minutes walk by an off road footpath in to Keswick town centre, where you will find a wealth of amenities. The village has a pub which serves bar meals, a tea room, restaurants and 2 marinas on Derwentwater. Accommodation overview: Newton Reigny is a peaceful village 3 miles from Penrith and with the benefit of easy access to the M6. Ullswater, the Northern Lakes and the Eden Valley are all easily accessible and the village benefits from a pub serving bar meals. These 2 characterful barn conversations (Lilac Studio property number 118169) have an interconnecting door and may be let separately or together for up to 6 people and situated in the village of Newton Reigny the Lilacs was originally a farm and the 2 cottages were the Byre and adjoining barn. More recently it was the home to Simon Bull, a well known Cumbrian artist and Lilac Studio was where he did his painting. The quality of accommodation in each cottage is to a very high standard, including top quality facilities and character beamed ceiling.

Accommodation overview: A superb example of our English heritage, Underfield Cottage sits within the Underfield Estate, Greenodd, only 8 miles from Coniston and within 5 miles of Fell Foot, Windermere. Built in 1646, the cottage displays a wealth of architectural detail including exposed beams, intricate panelling and stone mullion windows, all protected under Grade II star status.Set in over 40 acres of woodland, the grounds offer the opportunity to be at one with nature, the ancient rhoddedendrons creating a wash of colour across the landscape intermingled with well established trees and shrubs, the lower stems of which attract local deer and other native wildlife. There are fabulous walks on the fells around Portinscale, mountain bike trails in Whinlatter forest and sailing on Derwentwater and Bassenthwaite Lakes. The more adventurous may try paragliding or rock climbing. The view point for the famous Bassenthwaite Ospreys is within 3 miles of Bracken Howe.
