Accommodation overview: For couples seeking a romantic retreat or families who wish to indulge themselves with a well earned break, living in the lap of luxury, then Calthwaite Hall ticks all the boxes. This grade 2 listed building was the principal home on the Brackenburgh Estate and in the ownership of one family until 2010, when the current owner bought it, restoring it to its former glory. Located on the 1st floor of one wing of the hall with spacious rooms that retain all the original character of the period (1837), including original fireplaces and luxuriously furnished. All rooms overlook the grounds and each bedroom has a different theme, the master bedroom with a magnificent four poster bed. There are peacocks, a pond with ducks and swans, a secret garden and a paddock and equestrian school for guests with their own horse. We have squeezed this wonderful property to show in our Ullswater area, as it is only a 15 mile scenic drive to Ullswater and all it has to offer, and we felt with a property of this quality it would be worth the drive, also ideal to visit the nearby Eden Valley and up to the Scottish Borders, there is a local pub in the village which serves bar meals. Local attractions include Center Parcs, Rheged Visitor Centre and kids will love Hay Close with its maize maze and attractions.

Stockwell Hall cottage is situated close to the Caldbeck Fells on the edge of the Cumbrian Way, ideally positioned to explore the Northern Lake district, Solway Coast, Carlisle and the Scottish Borders. These 2 characterful barn conversations (Lilac Studio property number 118169) have an interconnecting door and may be let separately or together for up to 6 people and situated in the village of Newton Reigny the Lilacs was originally a farm and the 2 cottages were the Byre and adjoining barn. More recently it was the home to Simon Bull, a well known Cumbrian artist and Lilac Studio was where he did his painting. The quality of accommodation in each cottage is to a very high standard, including top quality facilities and character beamed ceiling.

Situated in the village of Lamplugh in a wonderful rural location 6 miles south of Cockermouth, it is close to Loweswater, Ennerdale Water and Crummock Water. This peaceful non-commercialised area of the Lake District is the perfect setting for a romantic break. Fishing is available locally at Cogra Moss, which is within walking distance and there are many other beautiful walks locally. The Coast to Coast cycle route goes past the front door and the award winning Kirkstile Inn is close by for bar meals. Cockermouth is well worth a visit, with shops, restaurants, Brewery Tours and the Lakeland Sheep and Wool centre to name a few of the attractions. Trotters Animal World is a mere 20 minute drive and the seaside town of St Bees is a similar distance.
