Bay Tree Lodge is situated just minutes from the heart of Wroxham, which is known as the capital of the Broads. There are plenty of waterside restaurants, pubs, cafés, and shops to choose from, and sailing, walking, nature trails, cycle hire and golf are all available locally. For children, BeWILDerwood offers an outdoor treehouse adventure with zip wires, jungle bridges, marsh walks and boat trips which all combine to add up to a great day out. Of interest, too, is Norfolk’s longest fifteen inch gauge line which runs between Wroxham and the ancient market town of Aylsham. It makes a pleasant way to see the picturesque Bure valley countryside - the 18-mile track follows the course of the stopping on the way at small country villages. The coast, with its sandy beaches, is only 12 miles and offers the opportunity to experience the delights of attractive coastal villages. Cromer and Sheringham are traditional seaside resorts providing varied attracions for all the family. Alternatively the fine city of Norwich, 8 miles, is a good place to spend the day - visitors will enjoy touring the cathedral, museums, theatre and vast array of cafes and shops. There is a wealth of National Trust properties to visit in the area which includes Felbrigg Hall, Garden and Park (one of the finest 17th-century country houses in East Anglia), Blickling Hall (a magnificent Jacobean house with woodland and lakeside walks) and Sheringham Park (beautifully landscaped and renowned for its spectacular displays of azaleas and rhododendrons in late spring).
