The cottage benefits from all modern amenities, yet retains all the charm and character of its 18th-century origins, with open beams and a log fire.
Hungate Garden Cottage is managed by the same team that looks after all the Hungate Cottages so immaculately . Visitors also enjoy free use of Pickering’s superb public indoor heated swimming pool (200 yards) and two free multi-entry passes to Dalby Forest. Pickering is a friendly town with good shops, inns and restaurants. From here the steam Railway runs across the moors amid stunning scenery, through the unspoilt villages of Levisham and Goathland (‘Aidensfield’ in television’s Heartbeat) to Grosmont. On the coast lies the historic seaport of Whitby (21 miles) with 3 miles of sandy beaches, cobbled streets, ruined Abbey and colourful harbour. Further along, huddled into the cliff-side, are the tiny fishing villages of Staithes, Runswick Bay and Robin Hood’s Bay, once the haunt of smugglers, while the popular resort of Scarborough is 17 miles away, offering excellent theatres, shopping and family entertainment.
