Accommodation overview: Loughrigg Holme sits underneath the much loved fell of the same name and was once the home of Wordsworths daughter, Dora and her husband Edward Quillinan, Rich in literary history connections, visitors to Loughrigg Holme have included Charlotte Bronte, the poet Matthew Arnold and Harriet Martineau. This chocolate box property,originally a farmhouse, built in 17th century and extended in the early 19th century is a beautiful example of a traditional Lakeland residence, her 2 1/2 acres of gardens and fellside including croquet lawn blending effortlessly into the slopes of Loughrigg and displaying a wealth of ancient shrubs and flora, cleverly married with more formal patio, lawn areas and natural water fall. A short stroll directly under Loughrigg Fell will bring you to beautiful Rydal Water, one of Lakelands smallest lakes at only ¾ mile long and ¼ mile wide and a favourite of Wordsworth and many other of the romantic poets and still, to this day, magical, peaceful and most inspiring. Accommodation overview: For couples seeking a romantic retreat or families who wish to indulge themselves with a well earned break, living in the lap of luxury, then Calthwaite Hall ticks all the boxes. This grade 2 listed building was the principal home on the Brackenburgh Estate and in the ownership of one family until 2010, when the current owner bought it, restoring it to its former glory. Located on the 1st floor of one wing of the hall with spacious rooms that retain all the original character of the period (1837), including original fireplaces and luxuriously furnished. All rooms overlook the grounds and each bedroom has a different theme, the master bedroom with a magnificent four poster bed. There are peacocks, a pond with ducks and swans, a secret garden and a paddock and equestrian school for guests with their own horse. We have squeezed this wonderful property to show in our Ullswater area, as it is only a 15 mile scenic drive to Ullswater and all it has to offer, and we felt with a property of this quality it would be worth the drive, also ideal to visit the nearby Eden Valley and up to the Scottish Borders, there is a local pub in the village which serves bar meals. Local attractions include Center Parcs, Rheged Visitor Centre and kids will love Hay Close with its maize maze and attractions.

Carhullan was completely modernised in 2008 by the owners, who retained the character of the property and complemented it with furnishings and equipment of the highest quality. The location of Carhullan, two miles from the village of Bampton and eight miles from Penrith is a perfect peaceful retreat, yet only 15 minutes from the M6. It is accessed along a no through road where it is situated at the very end, approximately two miles. There are walks from the doorstep, over High Street to Ullswater and across Bampton Common to Haweswater. Bampton has a village tea room with shop and the Mardale Inn serves good food and real ale.
