Just a couple of miles from the pretty village of Swainby and well placed for visiting the market town of Thirsk and surroundings, associated with ‘Herriot Country’. Close by is Mount Grace Priory, the best preserved Carthusian monastery in Britain, and Scarth Nick with its superb views. A little further afield is the north east coast with its quaint fishing villages together with the renowned resort of Whitby where popular Whitby Abbey stands majestically on the headland above the traditional working harbour. For the energetic there is good surfing at Saltburn. The North York Moors and Heartbeat country provide stunning scenery and are wonderful for touring. Shops and pub 2½ miles.
