The coast, just 20 miles to the east, is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and holds such treasures as historic castles and Holy Island (Lindisfarne). Excellent walks can be enjoyed in the surrounding countryside, whilst golfing and fishing are available nearby. The National Trust property at Cragside with its Hall and majestic grounds is two miles away and with Alnwick Castle and Gardens a short distance further there is always somewhere fascinating to visit.
