Sleeps 3
Weekly prices from £300 to £ 599

Self catering accommodation in Rogerscale sleeps 3.

Features include: • Open Fire or Woodburner Stove • Short Breaks • Sleeps 3

Accommodation overview: In an idyllic secluded location with stunning, uninterrupted views over the fells to the Vale of Lorton, these two adjoining properties have been created from a beautiful detached house, built in 1822 as a ‘painting house’ and studio for Joseph Sutton, a noted local artist. They are set in 1¾ acres of mature wooded gardens (with grassed areas, ideal for ball games) which lead down to the River Cocker where fishing is available by local licence. Woodlands and the river can be seen in the bottom photograph. This is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a haven to an abundance of wildlife. Just a short drive away is the bustling Georgian market town of Cockermouth (4 miles), the birthplace of William Wordsworth whose poetry helped make the Lake District so well known.
The property is situated in the hamlet of Rogerscale, just 8 miles (via the Whinlatter Pass) from Keswick, the Northern ’capital’ of the Lakes, making this an ideal base from which to explore both the northern Lakes and the west coast. The area offers stunning scenery, with Loweswater, Crummock Water and Buttermere within 15 minutes’ drive. Easily reached are Derwent Water (with steamers) and Bassenthwaite (with sailing and canoeing), while the Whinlatter Forest Centre offers extensive walking and cycling trails. Riding and golf 5 miles. Lorton 1 mile. Coast 20 miles. Shops and pub 4½ miles.
