Accommodation overview: Approached via a sweeping drive through a private golf course, St Audry’s House is a magnificent, classical, 7000 sq ft mansion house set in a quiet residential development. The house has been superbly refurbished in a New England style, is equipped to a very high standard and visitors will marvel at the scale of the accommodation arranged over three floors.
As guests enter St Audry’s House they will find off the entrance hallway an elegant dining room with feature fireplace, a spacious drawing room, a play room for the children and an enormous open-plan kitchen with large breakfast area and second dining table and chairs. Leading off the breakfast area is a spacious family room with Sky TV, comfortable sofas and double sofa bed. Halfway up the grand staircase there is a charming window seat, the perfect spot to sit and read as the sun pours in. On the first floor there is a super master bedroom suite with en-suite bathroom, dressing room, seating and views to the golf course. There are a further eight bedrooms which have been tastefully decorated and are comfortably furnished; all have either en-suite facilities or a close by bath or shower room. An enclosed courtyard-style garden with established planted borders is to the rear of the house.
The Ufford Park Golf and Spa Hotel is ½ mile away, where 2 for 1 green fees can be enjoyed, as well as 25-50% discount in the spa and leisure complex. Golfers with a handicap can play at the private St Audry’s golf course with prior arrangement. Tennis courts can be hired in both Melton and Woodbridge and sailing activities can be enjoyed in Woodbridge, Levington and Waldringfield. Aldeburgh and Southwold beaches are just 20-30 minutes’ drive away for a super seaside day out.
St Audry’s House is situated in Melton, a small village just two miles from the historic market town of Woodbridge, which is a town of considerable character on the west bank of the River Deben, well known for its sailing facilities and superb riverside walks. The picturesque streets are lined with historic and interesting buildings and the town boasts some of the best independent boutiques, art galleries and shops in Suffolk. There is plenty to do in town, with a cinema and theatre, many good established restaurants, traditional public houses and a public swimming pool with gym. Nearby towns and places of interest include Orford and Framlingham, both with interesting Norman castles. Snape Maltings includes a world famous concert hall inspired by Benjamin Britten, a complex of shops and galleries and a traditional pub serving excellent food. Aldeburgh and Southwold are both popular and exclusive seaside towns with interesting shops and fabulous beaches. Sutton Hoo is the largest Anglo Saxon burial ground in the United Kingdom.
