Accommodation overview: This thoughtfully converted holiday cottage adjoining the owners’ home, is conveniently located on the edge of the village where smugglers once stored their contraband, and dates back in parts to 1480. With the South Downs Way on the doorstep, the area offers walks across the gallops, and from 2012 will be known as the South Downs National Park. An ideal touring base for Friston Forest, Beachy Head, Herstmonceaux Castle and Brighton. The Charleston Festival, Glyndebourne, International Tennis Championships and air show at Eastbourne (5 miles). Shop 3 miles, pub 50 yards. Open-plan living room with wood-burning stove, step down to dining area and kitchen area. Oak floors and low beams throughout. One step up to bathroom with shower attachment and toilet. Accommodation overview: Nestling in the old smuggling village of Jevington on the fringes of the Cuckmere Valley an area of outstanding natural beauty in the South Downs National Park these four delightful and beautifully presented properties are ideally located for a relaxing break. The South Downs Way is on the doorstep there are a myriad walks and cycle paths to explore and a multitude of places to visit within a short drive. Beachy Head and the soaring white cliffs of the Seven Sisters Country Park Cuckmere Haven's sandy beach and Friston Forest Walks are among the local beauty spots whilst Herstmonceux Castle Battle Abbey Glyndbourne Drusilla's Zoo and the Bentley Motor Musem are all nearby. The popular seaside town of Eastbourne is 8 miles; Hastings and Rye are a little further afield and day trips from Newhaven to Le Havre and Dieppe are also available. Set beside the owners' home the cottages sit within walking distance of the widely acclaimed Hungry Monk restaurant (birthplace of Bannoffi Pie) as well as lovely tea rooms for afternoon treats and the excellent local inn. Shops 2¼ miles.
