Accommodation overview: This delightful, timber frame, black-and-white, thatched property (built 1420) is a fine example of a ‘cruck’ cottage, one of the earliest forms of English domestic architecture. Detached, it has a large garden with views over ancient fields and meadows. It is set along the main road to the village of Callow End (200 yards) which has a village shop, two excellent pubs and lovely walks. Within a short drive are the beautiful Malvern Hills, Great Malvern and Worcester with its fine cathedral, shops, excellent restaurants. Shops 100 yards. Accommodation overview: These three superb holiday cottages nestle on the borders of Herefordshire and Worcestershire and are located on a 700-acre estate on the beautiful west side of the Malvern Hills. Netherley Hall Estate is a family-run farm specialising in the breeding of racehorses, show ponies, cattle and sheep and the surrounding area offers marvellous woodland walks. The cottages are within 15 minutes’ drive of Malvern and have panoramic views of the wooded hills and unspoilt countryside; the location is ideal for nature enthusiasts, with an abundance of wildlife to observe as well as unrivalled bird-watching.
The cottages are all detached and the English oak timber used to restore their interiors was felled and machined from the extensive woodland on the estate itself. The furnishings and fittings for all the cottages have been supplied by local businesses and during restoration, the owners have paid great attention to detail. Parkers (ref RAAP) was originally built in 1610 and is a listed building lovingly restored to the very highest standard and has several items of antique furniture. Parkers Lodge (ref RAAQ) is a smaller two-bedroomed cottage completed in 2006 and fitted out to a very high standard, whilst Brook House (ref RAAR) is a listed building dating from around 1670 and emanates a marvellous ambience. It has landscaped gardens and a terrace with outstanding views overlooking Mathon Brook.
Attractions to visit near the cottages include the Malvern Hills, Three Counties Showground and Malvern Theatre, as well as farm shops, gardens, gift shops, picnic areas and walking trails. Fishing, golf and riding are also available as well as pick your own fruit (in season). Racecourses in the locality include Hereford, Worcester, Chepstow, Ludlow, Cheltenham, Wolverhampton, Warwick and Stratford. Shop and pubs 1 mile.

Accommodation overview: A wonderful discovery for families and friends, this detached property was originally two quarrymen’s cottages built in the early 19th century which have been very well extended and improved to provide spacious accommodation. Set within an Area of Natural Beauty, Wayfarers enjoys glorious views across rolling Herefordshire countryside to the Black Mountains of Wales. It lies within walking distance of the Worcestershire Beacon - the highest point of the Malvern Hills - and is the ideal starting point for the many walks which give panoramic views across the Severn Vale, as well as towards the west to Wales.
Wayfarers is perfectly located to explore the local attractions which include the Elgar route. The famous English composer lived in Malvern, and views from his house undoubtedly inspired him whilst writing his famous Enigma Variations. Eastnor Castle - a magnificent family home 2½ miles east of Ledbury - makes for an uplifting visit. It houses a fine collection of medieval armour, tapestries and paintings within its Gothic and Italianate interior. Set in a 5000-acre estate, it is surrounded by a deer Park, lake and arboretum. Great Malvern was renowned for its medicinal waters during Victorian time, and visitors can still try samples for themselves at St Anne’s Well. The Winter Gardens Pavilion is another attraction at Great Malvern - hosting the Almeida Drama Festival in August. The cathedral city of Worcester is approximately 8 miles away with its racecourse, riverbase, cinemas and shopping. Regency Cheltenham, Shakespeare’s Stratford-upon-Avon and the Cotswolds are within easy driving distance. Accommodation overview: With exclusive use of an outdoor heated swimming pool (mid May to mid September), sauna complex and the owners’ 7½ acres of grounds, visitors to Underwood Cottage would almost be forgiven for not venturing into the lovely surrounding countryside. Underwood cottage is situated on the Blossom Trail. This spacious, well-equipped and very comfortable 19th-century detached house stands on its own in a delightful and secluded setting, with many species of flora and fauna in its wooded grounds, as well as plum, pear and apple trees.
Underwood Cottage is an ideal touring base within easy driving distance of the Malverns, Cotswolds, Stratford-upon-Avon, Oxford, Warwick and the Welsh borders. Evesham, (5 miles), retains the atmosphere of a busy market town on the banks of the River Avon, and is very popular with anglers. The Vale of Evesham has rivers, canals, pools and lakes galore; with much of the River Avon suitable for dinghy sailing, boat trips and canoeing. Evesham was once popular with pilgrims, as Simon de Montfort was buried beneath its abbey. The town also has good shopping and many interesting buildings. Pilgrims in search of the true English countryside need look no further than the Cotswolds, considered by many to be one of the most beautiful areas in England. Several Cotswold villages, such as Bibury and Bourton-on-the-Water (both less than an hour’s drive), are famous as the quintessence of the English rural scene. Cheltenham (22 miles) is a spa town with elegant Regency architecture, tree-lined avenues, excellent shops and the home of National Hunt horse racing just north of town. There are also a number of English Heritage properties including Whitley Court. The Malvern Spring Flower show has become a major attraction over recent years as well as The Three Counties Agricultural Show and the Autumn Show. For those who enjoy gardening, there are many local nurseries, garden centres and gardens to visit in the NGS yellow book. The local area boasts excellent pubs, many of which serve good meals using locally sourced ingredients. The owners have a wealth of information to help guests enjoy their holiday.
