High Ham itself is architecturally interesting and contains a part Norman church and a National Trust thatched windmill, which is the only one in the country. There are also many fine historic houses to visit: Montacute House and Gardens, Hestercombe House, Wells Cathedral and Bishop’s Palace and more. It is also ideally located for days out further afield, to explore the north Somerset Coast (20 miles) and into Exmoor National Park, the Dorset World Heritage Jurassic Coast (26 miles), the spa city of Bath (30 miles) with its Romans baths, museums, shops and restaurants, and Longleat Safari Park, all well worth a visit.
