Over 20,000 water birds of 40 different species overwinter on the lakes including goosander and bittern. With limited permitted development, the managed habitat, through a network of hides, riverside walks and nature trails, enables inhabitants and guests to enjoy and observe wildlife not normally seen in our crowded cities; amongst which dragonflies, hobbies, sand martins, water voles and otters can all be found.
