Accommodation overview: Peacefully set with panoramic views over countryside to the Nith Estuary, these three detached, single-storey holiday cottages each have their own garden and have been furnished and equipped to the STB’s ‘4 Star’ standard. Conheath Gatelodge is a traditional Georgian cottage with many original features, whilst Janward is spacious and modern. Martha’s Shore Cottage was an original fisherman’s cottage dating back to 1700 - many generations of Martha’s artistic family lived here and her father was the stone mason for the farm estate, and cut stone for the owner’s own farmhouse. There are lovely riverside walks from the doorstep with abundant birds and other wildlife to spot. There are many quiet roads ideal for cycling, and excellent wildfowl salt-marshes surrounding Caerlaverock Castle, 3 miles away. Solway Firth, with its Robert Burns connections, is easily accessible. Dumfries, 3 miles, also with Burns attractions, has good shopping, restaurants, cinema and many sports facilities. Sandy beaches, quaint fishing villages, castles and nature reserves all within easy reach. Shop/P.O. and good village pub ½ mile. Set next to the owner’s 500-acre working farm.
