The tranquil village of Waberthwaite, spectacularly situated between the mountains and the sea, is the setting for this wonderfully sympathetic barn conversion which has created two stylish holiday cottages featuring vaulted ceilings, original beams and stonework. Surrounded by pretty gardens with a small stream running through, it makes a perfect base for exploring the western Lake District fells, country and coastal walks, and cycle paths. Just 4 miles from Muncaster Castle, gardens and owl sanctuary, and the Ravenglass to Eskdale Miniature Steam Railway, whilst Wast Water (voted Britain’s favourite view 2007) is a few miles further. The 18th century Georgian port of Whitehaven to the north has a conservation harbour and marina, the Beacon Heritage Centre plus shops and restaurants, or if relaxation is a preferred option, simply unwind on the sunny patio with a good book.
