In an elevated position overlooking Rowntree Park, with views toward the River Ouse, these four fine holiday apartments are housed in a newly constructed building, designed in traditional style. All apartments offer very comfortable accommodation and are equipped to a high standard. Set in a quiet ‘no-through’ road on the south side of the river, half a mile from York racecourse, this centrally located property is ideal for sightseeing and shopping on foot, and provides a relaxing base on return.
Easy access via the adjacent street to the park and lake, and a leisurely 15 minute stroll along the towpath brings you to Skeldergate Bridge, with boat trips and riverside inns at the heart of the city. Here you can walk the ancient city walls and visit the impressive minster, Castle Museum, Railway Museum and Jorvik Viking Centre. Alternatively explore the cobbled streets, such as The Shambles and Stonegate, with hanging baskets, street players and an interesting assortment of specialist shops, pubs and restaurants.
The National Parks of the Yorkshire Dales and Moors lie within 30 miles, whilst the coast at Filey, Scarborough and the picturesque seaport of Whitby are all within 45 miles. Racing at York, Wetherby, Thirsk, Ripon and Beverley. Historical places of interest in the area include Beningborough Hall, Riveaulx Abbey and Nunnington Hall. Nearby Castle Howard is one of the country’s grandest stately homes, filled with furniture by Chippendale and paintings by Gainsborough and Rubens. The estate’s thousand-acre grounds include formal gardens, towers, obelisks, sandstone follies, a large artificial lake, nature trails and a children’s playground. The fine stables have been converted into Britain’s largest private collection of period clothes.
